For the agreement, Abel Solutions will contribute to monthly expenses and budget coaching for a homeless mother and children in need
ALPHARETTA, GA MARCH 28, 2019—Abel Solutions, Atlanta’s premier consulting firm helping customers achieve business excellence, today announced it will sponsor one of The Drake Village apartments. The Drake Village is an extension of The Drake House, which for 13 years has been providing a lifeline of supportive housing and enrichment programs for homeless mothers and their children in North Metro Atlanta. Abel Solutions President David Hammond was a member of the Leadership North Fulton Class of 2004, which founded The Drake House, and the company has supported the organization and its mission ever since.
“Abel Solutions has grown and succeeded largely due to the support of the community in Atlanta—the city we call home,” said Abel Solutions President David Hammond. “We believe in giving back to our community, and what a better way to share our appreciation for our own homes than to help families in crisis in our own community have a safe, warm home of their own as well.”
The sponsorship agreement includes a monthly financial commitment to offset certain expenses related to the apartment and the resident family’s needs as well as budget coaches who will meet with the family bimonthly. In addition, Abel Solutions has also committed to fully furnish the two-bedroom apartment including everything from furniture for the kitchen, bedrooms and family room to kitchen and bathroom necessities.
“We are delighted to have Abel Solutions join our Neighbor-2-Neighbor partnership team. It is a unique opportunity to build a relationship with a family that is in residence and assist them in gaining functional budgetary knowledge to reduce their debt, increase their credit score and reestablish housing stability,” stated Kathy Swahn, Executive Director. “David is a founder, but also a former board president who has continued to take an active role with the organization.”
The Drake House purchased the The Drake Village complex in February 2017, first renovating it and then opening it in late 2018/early 2019. Adjacent to The Drake House, The Drake Village consists of 16 private, two-bedroom apartments that are available for up to 24 months to successful Drake House graduates. Participating in the housing program not only helps meet the family’s extended housing needs but also enables the head of household to enhance their money management skills, improve their credit scores, increase income and savings and reduce debt. The Drake Village also allows continued access to an after-school program, which is making enormous strides in academic progress and emotional support.
